The Belgian Cuberdon
I love how each region, and perhaps each town, in France will have its specialty confection or dish. Many are obscure and don’t reach beyond their borders, such as the cuberdons (although Belgian, not French, a specialty of Ghent, not far from Lille, France). They have a firm, chewy crust and a gummy interior. They are usually raspberry-flavored and very sweet (it's difficult to eat more than one). They have a short shelf life so are not usually found beyond Belgium’s borders. They are sometimes called the “Ghent nose” because of their nose-like shape.
